With an hour of daylight on Wednesday evening we headed down to Durgan, a beach which to me feels ancient, wild and primeval, perhaps reflected in the modern day ritual of groups gathering in the evenings and lighting fires, creating a firefly dance of flickering flames along the stony shore, backed by rocks than have seen eons and monkey trees that move with the stars. As dusk arrives swimmers glide into the water to be welcomed by the glow of phosphorescence that tickles their skin.✨
